Tamper- Resistant Receptacle News

Attention Dwelling Owners and Tenants: Were you aware that per the 2008 National Electrical Code and those municipalities complying with the 2008 National Electrical Code, that "all receptacles within a newly constructed or remodeled dwelling are required to be Tamper-Resistant Receptacles"? This new electrical code requirement went into effect on January 1, 2008.

Please check with your local municipality building code official to verfiy if Tamper-Resistant Receptacles are a requirement in your local community for new construction and remodeling dwelling projects.

Even though your dwelling may be exempt from this new code requirement in 2008, you should still consider having Tamper-Resistant Receptacles installed for safety purposes especially if you have younger children.

Arc-Fault Circuit Interrupters News

Attention Dwelling Owners and Tenants: Were you aware that per the 2008 National Electrical Code and those municipalities complying with the 2008 National Electrical Code, that "the majority of circuits within a newly constructed or remodeled dwelling required to be connected with an Arc-Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI)"? This new electrical code requirement went into effect on January 1, 2008.  

Please check with your local municipality building code official to verfiy if AFCI breakers are a requirement in your local community for new construction and remodeling dwelling projects.

Even though your dwelling may be exempt from this new code requirement in 2008, you should still consider having AFCI breakers installed in your main circuit breaker panel to make your dwelling safer from any potential electrical circuit related fires that could start. For electrical safety reasons, only a qualified licensed electrician should install AFCI's and any circuit breakers in your main panel.
